I’ve been feeling like my living room is really bland lately and have wanted to infuse a bit of color in there. With the couch, the walls and curtains all being really neutral, adding color to the living room would definitely bring some excitement to the space. I like to keep the larger pieces of a room less flashy so that I can add pops of color with throw pillows, blankets, art, accessories and even plants.
Here’s an example of what I started with. Time to go shopping!

I’m on a navy blue kick right now and knew that these throw pillows from Wayfair would be perfect for the couch. I wanted to keep things simple with a solid color pillow behind my grey ticking ones. They have a slight texture to them that adds a bit of interest to their solid color.
I carried over the navy to the coffee table with a cute ceramic candle holder.
Another great way to bring in color and texture to a room is to add plants. It doesn’t even have to be bright, colorful flowers. Don’t underestimate the power of a few touches of green. This faux fiddle leaf fig tree brings a much needed pop of color and life to the space…
…as well as preserved boxwood. I placed some in a terra cotta pot and also hung a wreath from the armoire to break up some of the dark wood tones. I love how versatile boxwood is. You can use it for any season and it smells wonderful, too!
An old plaid throw blanket in a side basket ties the green and navy together perfectly.
I’m really loving these added touches of color. It balances out all of the neutrals quite nicely.
Many thanks to Wayfair for sponsoring this post!
