Can you believe that the new school year is upon us!? Soon the big yellow bus will be hauling all the kiddos off to class and the 2014-2015 school year madness will officially commence. Lucky for you, the fabulous girls at Elizabeth Joan Designs recruited some amazing bloggers for a Back To School Blog Hop filled with all sorts of neat ideas to kick off your school year with ease. You won’t want to miss any of the awesome projects we have for you so be sure to visit each of the links listed at the end. Let’s get this party started, shall we?
With school comes homework and why not set the kids up for success with a homework caddy full of all the essentials? They can take it from the kitchen table, to the living room or anywhere they feel like studying. Even outside!
I used this cute metal crate from Garden Ridge to place all of my things in.
I added a “homework” sign to the front by cutting an old Halloween sign into a rectangle and painting it with chalkboard paint. Then I drilled holes in each corner, threaded some thin jute rope through and tied it to the basket.
To make the caddy a bit easier to carry, I added some handles by tying two strands of jute rope to the metal basket.
Now all that was left to do was add my supplies and we are ready to rock!
I added some pencils, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue and glue sticks, scissors, a few folders, some books and a yummy snack. I placed them in some mesh pencil holders that I got from the dollar store. The cylindrical metal bin is from H&M online.
Alrighty! Now that you’re ready to take on that homework, be sure to check out the rest of the Back To School Blog Hop projects below. You can click on each image or the blog names below to get to each project.

Thank you, Katie!
I need some of these, Sarah!! My kids are constantly digging through kitchen drawers looking for a pencil to do their homework. I love that everything is organized and you can store it when you’re done. Such a great idea!!
Thanks, Amy! Hopefully this will help keep us organized!
What a perfect idea!!! LOVE it!
Thank you, Kristi!
Great idea! I’m not a mom myself but I can totally see my niece and nephew coming home and pulling out their homework basket. I guess Aunt Kat will have to make them one 🙂
Oh, I’m glad you like it, Kat! Thank you!
This is such a good idea. So simple but extremely effective. I like the addition of little handles for it, making it all that more functional.
Thank you so much, Emily!
So easy and cute! Love it 🙂

Metal bins and chalkboards are like my spirit animals right now, so I’m LOVING this. It kinda makes me want to tackle my overflowing craft closet with this type of system!
LOL! I totally know what you mean, Jen. I need to make more! Thanks for stopping by!
This is so cute and smart! I’m a sucker for ALL metal bins and boxes, so of course I love this.
Thanks, Christina! The metal bin is my favorite part!
aww, I love little wire crates and this is perfect for homework! might have to make one for my adult “homework” so I stay on top of things!
Thanks, Erica! I’m totally going to make myself one, too! Then I can haul my work everywhere!
This is a great idea, right now I just have a pencil box full of some pencils, a sharpener, some crayons, etc. But, I feel we need something that can hold papers, etc. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks, Carrie! It’s great to have everything in one place. You could even use a wooden crate or a basket you already have on hand. 🙂
This looks like a great way to keep everything in one place!
Thank you, Melanie!
First of all, that metal crate is so stinkin’ cute! Second of all, what a great idea for corralling all the “stuff” together! I love it!
Thank you, Corinna! Isn’t it the cutest? 😉
We got 1 metal bin I did not know what to do with it. Guess I do know now!! Perfect idea!
Thanks, Yasmina!

Hi Elizabeth! Thank you so much for stopping by and for the follow. I truly appreciate it!
Hi Sarah
Would love for you to share this tonight at Friday Favorites. It’s contained, mobile and could fit in a cabinet over the weekend. Love the simplicity and functionality! Please share! Found it on Houseology party and had to ask(beg).

Who wouldn’t be “excited” to do homework with this waiting for them after school ! Such a cute idea. Pinned for later! and by later I mean like 4 years when little man starts school! 😉 haha. I’m sure it will go fast though.
Thanks, Jamie! Time does pass by fast! Thanks so much for pinning!
