A fresh and floral laundry room makeover design plan / mood board

It’s the start of a new year, and with that comes the urge to organize and refresh. In my last post, I shared that the laundry room would be the first room we would be making over for 2022.

Our laundry room is a small, narrow closet under the stairs. Let’s take a look at what we’re working with currently. As you can see below, it is in dire need of organization.

Laundry Room Makeover Before Photo

I’ve got to admit, I’m a little embarrassed to be sharing the before photo. I guess we all start somewhere, though. Hubby added the little shelf so we’d have somewhere other than the top of the dryer to store the laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies. It’s worked ok thus far, but as you can see, there is still a bunch of stuff crowding the top of the dryer. I’d really like to add more shelving so that I can clear it off and actually be able to see the control panel. Can we talk about the lighting? That light bulb with a chain situation has got to go.

When designing a new look for a space, I find it really helpful to gather all of my inspiration pieces and put them all together in a mood board. It’s a great way to see how everything meshes together, and I can tweak things before committing to any purchases or projects.

Now, let’s take a peek at what I’ve got planned for this space.

Since storage is minimal, making use of every square inch is important. Adding shelving above the washer and dryer is a great way to use up the vertical space we do have available. Some baskets and glass containers make for pretty but functional storage. A new light fixture, faux plants, wallpaper and a few pieces of decor pretty things up without taking up too much space.

I can’t wait to get started on this makeover. I’ve been gathering my supplies and I’m ready to get things moving! Check back for updates and the reveal. And thank you so much for being here after such a long hiatus. I really appreciate and value your support.
