Grab some pallet wood and whip up this easy reclaimed wood display frame!
Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s Monthly DIY Challenge time around here and I’m really excited about our theme for November. This month our theme was reclaimed wood. Like most DIYers, I’ve got an abundance of leftover pallet wood stacked in my garage, so this was the perfect chance to put some of it to use. I decided to make a reclaimed wood display frame made from pallets and chicken wire.

Tools & Materials:
- pallet wood
- welded mesh wire fencing
- wire cutters
- pocket hole jig and a drill
- 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws
- staple gun and staples
- wood stain
- chip brush
- miter saw or miter box
How to Make a Reclaimed Wood Display Frame:
First, I cut my pallet boards to size on the miter saw. I wanted my frame to be rectangular shape but you can make yours square if you’d like. I mitered the ends at 45 degrees. Then, I joined them together by drilling out pocket hole screws and joining them together at each corner.
Next, I laid out the wire fencing over the frame and cut it to size, leaving about half an inch around the perimeter of the frame. Using a staple gun I secured the wire to the frame.
Now that the frame was assembled, it was time to stain. I used a mixture of two Minwax stains – Weathered Oak and Special Walnut. I brushed it on with a cheap chip brush, dabbed it with a paper towel immediately, and let it dry.
Isn’t so cute?! I love that I can hang notes, Christmas cards, or photos on it. The options are endless.
