Put a spin on your store bought faux pumpkins with this cute and easy burlap covered pumpkin craft!

With summer winding down and also getting school started back up (we homeschool), I took a much needed break to get things organized and to enjoy the last of the lazy summer days. We’ve gotten into the groove of our new school year, so I am anxious to get back into sharing projects. What better way to kick things off than with a Monthly DIY Challenge? This month our theme is Mod Podge, and the lovely folks at Plaid were kind enough to provide product to create these fantastic projects. For my project I created this super cute burlap covered pumpkin.

I decided to officially ring in the new season and create a fun fall pumpkin craft. It was super easy and only took about an hour plus drying time. I was inspired when I saw the smaller burlap pumpkins at the dollar store and wanted to create a full size version.

Tools & Materials:

First, I cut my burlap ribbon into strips that would reach from the stem of my pumpkin to the underside. I applied the Mod Podge to my strips with a paint brush and then stuck the Mod Podged side to the pumpkin.

Then, I brushed Mod Podge over the strips until they were basically glued to the pumpkin and laid flat against it.

I continued to glue my burlap strips onto the pumpkin until it was fully covered. It will look like a goopy, hot mess when you’re done, but I promise it will dry and look amazing.

After drying overnight, I awoke to this!

I think it turned out adorable and compliments the small dollar store pumpkin perfectly. I’ll definitely be making more! As always, be sure to check out all of the brilliant Monthly DIY Challenge projects from the rest of the group below. And don’t miss the giveaway at the very end!
