When we last left off in the laundry room, we had shared the design plan of our vision for the space. We started on the wall paneling, trim and cabinets, but left for vacation later that week. When we got back, the holidays were in full swing. Then the winter blues hit and the project fell on the back burner.
Now that we’ve had some time to come up for air, we’re itching to finish up so we can fully enjoy the space. Here’s a look at where we started.
The Before

We got the paneling and trim installed over a weekend.

Then we installed the cabinets. We also switched the appliances around to a configuration that works much better for this tight space.

Having the cabinets mounted has already been such an improvement in functionality. The shelf was impossible to reach and offered nothing as far as concealed storage was concerned.
We still have to build out the space above the existing cabinets and the refrigerator. Here’s a very elementary iPhone mockup of the plan. You can see that hidden storage is very much needed in here to hide all of the uglies.

Next up after finishing the cabinets will be installing a stained wood paneled ceiling and then we’ll move on to lighting and all the finishing touches, like paint, decor, etc. Stick around to see the next update!
